I was Wigging out. Drugs and Psych meds dont mix! Spent near a week in the fine facility in Covina. Very nice staff. Treat you accordingly. Food was tops as well. These folks seem to care. Only thing is. Forced stay.

My son originally was a victim of bullying that affected him so badly. Also my divorce from his father added to the crisis. He lost interest in school, became shy, no interest in anything. Things unfavorable in addition happened that needed the intervention. He lost interest to live. His stay in this wonderful place...Aurora Charter Oak Hospital was the best thing that happened. The 9 days stay in the hospital enabled him to transform positively. Not quickly but he ended up to be positive, able to come back to faith in God and start reading the bible. He turned very good conversationalist, and very motivated. He now wakes up early in the morning, no pressure like before, do exercise and very motivated to go to high school. I can hear from him plans of his future. First thank you Lord, and thank you to Charter Oak Hospital. More power to all!

they subscribed to my vegetarian and vitamin ideas. i was able to EAT here with my disorders. i will admit, the co-ed unit was more stable, the woman's unit was more violent, and i would not let patients smoke. the patch or some form of treatment should be preferable. it's possible they are sponsored by certain cigarettes, but i believe there was a case manager and a security guard who gave too much attitude, opposite of the people who gave their actual hearts out to the ones accepting their fate of free dorm (lockless) and food. this is a blessing to the community, but their focus on drug addiction and smoking was blunted by another program they followed up with, for me, because the quarters were not as clean and the toiletries were not as standard, either. the dial soap was fine. the sheets were amazing. the staff could use attention, but like i said, i want to give gratitude and move on from how much energy was put in here. i want to give back, personally. HOWEVER, keep in mind, any kind of psychosis is hell, and like i said, there were a couple of violent women, and i'm not sure how many miracles have needed to be performed here to keep the roof from "caving in" so to speak.

I gained 15 lbs in 10 days they feed you so much here, lol. Now part of my recovery goals is to lose that weight.. Ha-ha. Overall very good experience.. Groups become a little tedious but the floor staff, especially Cynthia and cam are truly there to help and care for the patients in any way possible. Dr. Switched my meds around a couple times until we found the right fit for me...exploring coping skills and talking about my situation in groups as well as hearing others stories have calmed my hopelessness and desire to commit suicide...thank you
